True to Canada

It doesn't matter what Canadian Team you faithfully chear for all year long - you have to pull for the Sens at this point! The funny thing is nobody pulls for these guys all season long!

Bahamas '07

Spent a very relaxing few days in the Bahamas. The weather was perfect, enjoyed the expanded Atlantis with a new ocean beach and tuberides. It was really good to see everyone and the countdown to next year begins!

New Years Eve to 2007

A couple of pictures of Colorado where we spent New Years. My and Beths version of a keg stand differ a little - Beth reverted to her College days for a minute with a one handed keg stand!

Gotta love camera effects!

Playing with the new macs that come with a built in camera/video camera in the screen and the different effects you can use on the lense - a couple of many pictures we took! Like a little kid, my eyes were watering I was laughing so hard - I dont think this new toy is ever going to get old!

The Great White North

Beth and I made the trek North (and west) over the Yankee Thanksgiving. We plan the trip home at this time to avoid the snow, cold weather, and weather related travel delays... That didn't really work this year as the mercury dropped to the -20'sC in Smithers and then 'Couver got a record setting snowfall! What that meant was alot of inside time at home and several delayed flights getting back to NY. But, I did get to spend alot of time with the family, including my nephew who was born way back in February on my birthday. It was the first time meeting him. I also got to see some friends and take in a local hockey game.

The big man comes to town...

I had another visitor last weekend here in the big apple. The big man himself arrived on Thursday night and we made the most out of the sights until Sunday afternoon. We saw Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty (from a distance), the East river and all its old bridges, the Empire State building, Times Square, the Natural History Museum, and as an added bonus, the NYC Marathon in Central Park....lots of walking. We even managed a couple great meals in the city and a couple of late nights!

Canadian long weekend

Ennismore Ontario was the site of a family reunion last weekend. Good to see everyone and some familiar faces from Smithers as well. We packed alot of activities into 4 days and had alot of fun doing it. Went fishing for salmon on Lake Ontario, water skiing and wake boarding, and numerous croquet games kept us amused. Journey even made the trip this time.

NYC Triathalon

Beth competed in the NYC triathalon on Sunday beating her time last year by 5 minutes. Its an ugly swim in the Hudson river a bike up the West side hwy and a run across town to Central Park. It was a very hot day with 3000+ athletes!

No Silver for the Oil

I knew that after going down 3-1 that the oil could not come back to win the cup - But it was a very exciting run and for two seasons in a row a Canadian team (an Alberta) team is defeated by a team that has never before won the championship in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final! Too bad - it would have been awesome to have the cup back in Canada. There is always next year. My money is on the Leafs - not the Flyers, not the Canuckleheads, and not the Predators.

Journey gets another gig

Journ got the call to model for MSLO again for more merchandising. This shoot had a decent pay out as well!
Her role was to lie on this cashmere throw blanket and fall asleep - I asked if they needed another Canadian to do the same but was declined. The photographer loved her and had tried a couple other dogs before Journ, but was unable to find one that would actually fall asleep on the job.

Could the Oil go all the way...

...Me thinks so! I've been watching these guys and they look pretty good. The are alot different than the young team of the past 4-5 years that played exciting, emotional hockey but never quite got the job done. This year they have some acquired veterans that will guide them to the ultimate goal! Go Oil Go! Im officially on the Edmonton wagon!
Check out some images of the last time the boys took the cup back to Canada...the current coach included (1990).

Savannah,GA

Went to Savannah last weekend to look at a resort with Beths parents. Hampton Island is a beautiful, quiet island with huge plans! We went horse back riding, boating and had a private chef at our disposal for the weekend who prepared wild boar from the island and fresh Mahi Mahi caught that afternoon by the resorts fisherman. Absolutely nothing 'brokeback' about it!!

The stage is set...

Well...the first round of the playoffs is set and its a dual of NY and NJ here in the East that has everyone suddenly interested in Hockey. Jersey ended the season on a huge winning streak while the Rangers looked like a little know team from the west (the Canuckleheads) and decided to collapse. I would expect that from the bottom dwelling Canucks but Im pretty bummed about the favorite Canadian team (the Leafs). Oh well,..there is always next year.

Rico comes to town

Spent the day hanging with Rick in the city - Didn't have much time but managed to hit a little known burger joint where the food and beer met our expectations, introduced Rick to one corner of Central park, and even managed to see a couple of celebrities along the way!

Sirius Satellite Radio

As you may or may not know, may or may not care...Howard Stern left "terrestrial radio" back in December of 2005 to join the the new aged Satellite radio world. Well,...I subscribed and have been enjoying satellite radio at home now for a couple of months. I just very recently got even more techno advanced and bought the car kit for my home receiver and now can listen to Howard and the gang on my drive to work in the mornings and home again. If you dont have satellite radio, you are missing out! Totally uncensored, unlimited, and getting broader and broader everyday. Sirius is the satellite of choice and Volkswagen just announced the other day that they are going to start manufacturing their vehicles with the radios in their new cars! Ya its "pay radio", but no more than a couple Starbucks coffees, 1.5 beers, or 6 subway rides a month. Well worth it.

Journey goes international

This is really funny - got a call from a reporter for a "news paper" in Clearwater, BC Canada, where I used to live (in a former life)- they wanted to run a story about Journey. They wanted to tell the story of her and I moving to NJ, her becoming a model dog for Martha Stewarts magazine and patio furniture line. They mention my name a couple of times but were really after Journ! Take a read on it. The paper is called the "Clearwater Times" - roughly the same circulation as the NY Times...or not. Here is the link (www.clearwatertimes.com/) for "Journey Takes Nip out of Big Apple".

The Bahamas

Spent last weekend in the Bahamas and quickly realized - I love that place! The weather was perfect, it wasn't crowded and drinks delivered to your chair on the beach - whats not to love?!

Marthas other dog

Our dog Journey has made the cover of Body and Soul magazine - the Martha Stewart magazine Beth is the photo editor for. There are a couple more pictures of her inside the magazine as part of the same story as the cover picture. I was on the photo shoot as the "dog handler" in Manhattan back in October. Journey says she looks fat in the pictures, but I think shes a star!!
For those interested...here is the link to the magazines website...once they update it with the March 2006 issue.

Vail, CO

Enjoyed a weekend snowboard trip to Vail Co. No new snow but a huge snowfall a few days before we arrived made for otherwise good conditions. Weather was good and no lines. The ski area is huge with over 2100ha and 34 lifts - I didn't even begin to see it all!!

Rockefeller Center

Went to the Top Of The Rock with Beths family. An amazing view.

Wednesday, December 14, 2005

Dug these pictures up from a year ago - not many of these creatures in Jersey but in Canada they are far too common - just ask this lady who suffered only minor injuries and some moose blood in the hair! Squirrels here are big but....

Flood of 2005

This is the latest bit of excitement in my life - we live on the 6th floor of a 7 floor condominium and the guy above us experienced a "Severe hot water tank failure" which resulted in hundreds of gallons of water pouring down through our ceiling into our bedroom and bathroom! The ongoing insurance nighmare begins!!

Meet Journey

Our dog Journey loves the snow and this was the first snowfall of the year in the Tri-state area.

To Blog or not to Blog

Alright....I gave in and started a blog too - Thanks BJ and Rico for the inspiration. Well boys we are in our own corners of the world these days aren't we!? Ill try and catch up to you guys, I wish I had started this when I first moved here to Jersey.
